Charitable Outreach

At SGSM, we are aware that we are called to act out our faith. Being a Catholic is about showing our love for God by serving others in our daily lives. The Gospel message of 'love one another' is at the core of the life of our school. We strive to actively live out our lives by listening and understanding the teachings of the Gospel. We serve those around us with compassion and love and carry out our own personal discipleship. We play an active part in supporting people locally, nationally and globally. Here are a few of the things that we have done so far this year:

Douglas MacMillan

Thank you to everyone who took part in our fundraiser for Dougie Mac - Splat the Teacher!  We raised £120 for this amazing charity.

We held a cake sale for Dougie Mac and raised £77!

Thank you to our Catholic Life Leaders for running the stall.

Stoke on Trent Foodbank

We visited the central warehouse in  Burton to find out how all the food donations are stored and distributed in Stoke-on-Trent. We even helped to sort out some of the food. Later we visited a nearby Food Bank and learnt how the food is given to those who need it. We learnt that the food banks provide lots of other services as well as food.

St George and St Martin's is a Foodbank Collection Point.

Children in Need

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Children in Need through buying badges, ears and bracelets.  We raised an amazing £248.29. Well done!

Mini Vinnies

Some of our Key Stage 2 children are ‘Mini Vinnies’.  Mini Vinnies is part of the St Vincent de Paul Society and works to help those in need.

Recently, they have raised money to buy Christmas gifts for our friends at Northwood Day Care Centre.

Newman Global Charity Meeting

Some of our Catholic Life leaders went to Saint Margaret Ward to meet with children from across the collegiate. They completed some team building activities linked to fairness and injustice. They then researched and presented about some of the global charities that they would like us to support during the summer term.

Lenten Pledges

Our children have chosen a Lenten pledge for their class to take part in. All of the money raised will be going to Father Hudson's as part of the Good Shepherd appeal.

Year Two each ran 20 laps of the playground...
